MITSUBISHI EVO X 2008 ON
As a leading manufacturer of stainless steel performance exhaust systems for the Mitsubishi EVO range of cars, we were very excited to get our hands on the new EVO X car launched in 2008. Traditionally the exhaust layout follows a formulaic design constituting the downpipe – cat centre section and single outlet rear silencer.
However, in a mould breaking way Mitsubishi changed the system to one of a twin outlet, or “duplex” designed rear section. From our research most manufacturers have followed the basic concept of a transverse silencer with a tip coming out of each end. Nothing inspirational there then – our thoughts initially were “Whats going on in the silencer” – reflection chambers? – uncontrolled gas flow? With this in mind we developed our system with a more fluid free flowing design concept with controlled gas flow through each of the two rear silencers guaranteeing the power increase that our customers crave.
Obviously power is only one of the factors we consider at Blue Flame – the sound and the look have to be geared to an overall effect in terms of our customer satisfaction. From the pictures you can see that the tips utilise a 4.50” slash cut design with a twin walled construction for that “engineered” look. The sound of the Evo X comes alive with the use of 76mm mandrel bent tubing seperating into twin 57mm tubing running through the rear silencers – the result is a subtle sports tone that’s guaranteed to set the pulse racing when you hit the “Go” pedal. Motor sport cats complete the package, and are available as 200 cell or 100 FIA aproved variants, or where permitted a de cat front pipe option is also available.

New Golf MK6 GTI & The Scirocco TFSI
The advent of the new range of VAG based TFSI 2.0 Turbo engines raises the bar considerably for those wishing to squeeze extra pony’s from their pride and joy. As ever Blue Flame’s on going program of producing serious High Performance Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems for tuners favourites such as the New Golf MK6 GTI and The Scirocco TFSI mean that we made it a priority to take the tried and tested formant from the Golf MK5 GTI, which runs a 3.00” Downpipe into either a 100 Cell FIA Approved Motor Sport CAT and flows the Turbo Propelled Gases into a 3.00” Cat Back Dual Silenced System.
The end result is a fantastic exhaust note which whilst agressive and sporty, is not intrusive in such a way as to de grade your in car experiance. With a Cat Back System when mapped, we achieved a power output of 265BHP and torque level of 444NM.
All of the development vehicles were provided by Corkills VW so a special thanks to Chris Hargrave and Adrian Kermode for all of their help.

FORD FOCUS RS SERIES 2 2009
Following on from the success of our Focus RS series 1 system, and the full 3.00” Focus ST system, it was inevitable that Blue Flame would be one of the first performance exhaust system manufacturers to develop a system for the series 2 car.
Working with key Ford tuners has given us the opportunity to get our hands on a car at the earliest possible moment, and the end result is an evolution of our full 3.00” design used on the Focus ST.
On this occasion the silencer balance has shifted more towards the rear of the car, to give a more purposeful tone, and one that we feel is more remeniscent of the group N rally cars.
Our customers will determine whether or not we have the mix right, but our roll out left everyone with there jaws round their ankles, so indications are that once again we’ve hit the sweet spot. Have a listen to the video’s and give us your feed back.
