MITSUBISHI EVO X 2008 ON
As a leading manufacturer of stainless steel performance exhaust systems for the Mitsubishi EVO range of cars, we were very excited to get our hands on the new EVO X car launched in 2008. Traditionally the exhaust layout follows a formulaic design constituting the downpipe – cat centre section and single outlet rear silencer.
However, in a mould breaking way Mitsubishi changed the system to one of a twin outlet, or “duplex” designed rear section. From our research most manufacturers have followed the basic concept of a transverse silencer with a tip coming out of each end. Nothing inspirational there then – our thoughts initially were “Whats going on in the silencer” – reflection chambers? – uncontrolled gas flow? With this in mind we developed our system with a more fluid free flowing design concept with controlled gas flow through each of the two rear silencers guaranteeing the power increase that our customers crave.
Obviously power is only one of the factors we consider at Blue Flame – the sound and the look have to be geared to an overall effect in terms of our customer satisfaction. From the pictures you can see that the tips utilise a 4.50” slash cut design with a twin walled construction for that “engineered” look. The sound of the Evo X comes alive with the use of 76mm mandrel bent tubing seperating into twin 57mm tubing running through the rear silencers – the result is a subtle sports tone that’s guaranteed to set the pulse racing when you hit the “Go” pedal. Motor sport cats complete the package, and are available as 200 cell or 100 FIA aproved variants, or where permitted a de cat front pipe option is also available.
